I am pleased to announce that Greg Fundis who performs with the group 'Old Shoe' as well as with guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque will be presenting a free drum set clinic at the Percussion Project Studio at 1 pm, March 29. Greg is a fellow Millikin University percussion alumnus and is well respected in the Chicago area as both a performer and an educator. His clinic is supported by Vic Firth. Don't miss out on this great opportunity.
I am very excited to announce that the Percussion Project Studio in collaboration with the Moon Dog Drum House will be hosting Rich Redmond from Jason Aldeans band. Rich will be teaching a master class in the morning and then presenting his famous "C.R.A.S.H." course for success clinic in the afternoon. You can read all about Rich at his website www.RichRedmond.com!
Space is extremely LIMITED for the master class which starts at 10:00am on Feb. 22nd. Pay now to reserve your spot today!
Rich's CRASH course for success will follow at 12pm.
I hope all who come by this website have a great New Year's Eve/Day and your resolutions are in full effect.
On the studio front, I'll be offering free lessons to new potential students, drum clinics with great drummers and percussionist, percussion ensemble (starts in late February), downloadable lessons and much more!
On the performing side, there is a couple new projects brewing but my main gig Dan Hubbard and the Humadors will be entering the studio to work on our new album. We'll also be hitting the road and finally traveling outside of the Midwest and performing in cities we haven't been to in awhile or even some we've never been to. Lots of festivals as well!
Keep checking back for more updates!

I was going through my old iWeb site and came across all my old blog posts(like all 5 of them...). One of them was talking about the various drum shops I've been to around the country. Each store is unique, from shops with every cymbal available to one that has a wide variety of boutique snare drums. Some just have a deep history of being the drum shop where the pro's stop in. One that was missing on that list(because the store wasn't opened at the time of my blog post) was Vic's Drum Shop located in the heart of Chicago, IL.
I met Victor Salazar through my college friend Ben and it was really cool to see Vic go out and start his own shop. The music industry isn't quite what it used to be even 10 years ago. In a time where I have watched countless drum shops either downsize their inventory or close their doors altogether. Vic's is the complete opposite, they keep growing. It's one of the only stores I know I can call up and ask for some obscure part and know that Vic has it in stock. Other stores I would have to order the part and wait for who knows how long for the part to come in.
Vic's is where I do my drum shopping and even though it's a few hours away, I can always call them up and get whatever I need shipped to me by the next day without having to pay for crazy overnight shipping!
I also like to take my students up to see the shop and experience the store about two times a year. They are always in awe of the store and are always asking when we can go back (usually during the drive home) it's that great of a drum shop. We will hopefully be going up again in June 2014, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, check out this video about the store.
I had quite a few web page builders to choose from but a selling point on Square Space was the ability to do updates from my phone or iPad with no hassle.
I'd like to share a photo from last Saturdays great show in Saybrook, IL.
This is the new Kevinyarger.com/ Percussionprojectstudio.com home page(s). This is a work in progress as I transfer info from the old websites to this one. Regardless of the mess, I am excited by the potential this site will have to offer. Please bookmark this page and check back frequently!
